70th Republic Day Celebration at CGI, Frankfurt and evening reception

The Consulate General of India Frankfurt celebrated the 70th Republic Day of India at its premises along with the members of the Indian community and the Consulate family. Consul General Ms. Pratibha Parkar unfurled the National flag which was followed by the singing of the National Anthem. Consul General read the speech delivered by Hon'ble President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind.

Enthusiastic kids from Balgokulam & Indian Music Academy presented their piece of patriotic songs before the Indian Diaspora. A Warli art workshop was conducted by members of Bhavishya to promote Indian art in the Consulate premises.

Members of the Indian community, Friends of India & Indian Socio-Cultural Associations who have been at the forefront of promoting Indian culture were present on the occasion. Over 550 members of the Indian community attended the celebrations.

Consul General, Ms. Pratibha Parkar hosted an evening Reception where around 350 guests from the spheres of business, culture, media, diplomatic corps & political & governmental institutions attended the event.

Ms. Bettina Wiesmann, Member of German Federal Parliament & Mr. Stephan Siegler, Chairman, City Council, Frankfurt were the Chief guests to the event.Other dignitaries, Mr. Ralf Möller, Mayor of City of Weiterstadt, Mr. Leonard Helm, Mayor of City of Königstein, Mr. Mathias Geiger, Mayor of City of Eschborn, Mr. Wolf Hassler, City Councilor for the City of Kelkheim, Mr. Klaus Möbias, Deputy Mayor of City of Frankfurt, Mr. Jumas Medoff, Chairman for Foreigners Advisory Council for the City of Frankfurt & Mr. Kerry Reddington, Deputy Chairman for Foreigners Advisory Council for the City of Frankfurt also attended the event.

CG welcomed all the guests with an opening speech giving a flashback to the CGI`s initiatives & outreach in 2018 followed by the speeches from the chief guests. Local Indian artists presented Indian semi-classical & folk dance before the gathered audience.

The 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi with an in-house photo & Khadi products exhibitions was inaugurated during the Republic Day celebrations. The photo exhibitions will further be organized at different locations in the CGI´s jurisdiction.
